Logan band plays at Treefort Music Fest in Boise

The Logan band little Barefoot recently returned home after attending the Treefort Music Fest in Boise, Idaho. The indie-rock series, held from Mar. 25 to Mar. 29, was the band’s first festival.

“It was very accepting,” said Benton Wood, a drummer, bass player and vocalist for the band. “From the moment you check in as an artist everyone there is very gracious toward you.”

The five-day event featured more than 400 bands from around the U.S., which were booked through online submissions. Downtown coffee houses, bars, nightclubs and food establishments opened their doors as venues to welcome the onslaught of bands and attendees.

“The whole city just turns into a music festival,” said Taylor Ross Wilson, the lead vocalist. “Every other restaurant or possible place where there could be shows were doing shows.”

On Mar. 28, the band performed a 45-minute set for a crowd of approximately 40 at The District Coffee House in downtown Boise.

Wood said the atmosphere was different from a regular show. Unlike playing with two or more bands, little Barefoot members were able to focus on themselves.

“Most of the attention was playing the festival, not attending the festival,” Wood added.

The band didn’t have any merchandise to sell but Wilson made sure to hand out a few CDs and some stickers at the concert. After the show, the band’s Instagram and Facebook pages received some attention. However, little Barefoot wasn’t there to promote.

“We didn’t go up there with any other goals than to play and have a good time,” Wilson said.

The band members said because so many artists compete for attention, almost no one actually tries to advertise. There was more camaraderie between bands than competition.

“You’re just part of the daze,” Wilson added.
